When flying from San Jose to the centre:
We recommend flying with SANSA. They are a great company, and we always fly with them ourselves. They are also the only airline to use the Palmar Sur (PMZ) airport, which is the one we’ll collect you from.
Typically there is a single flight each day from SJO to PMZ, so you will either need to be on that flight, or if we’ve chartered a flight for you and the rest of the group, we’ll let you know the time of departure. Considering there’s only a single flight per day you may need (or want) to stay a night in San Jose to make that the trip to the centre more of a gradual process – and if you do we recommend staying with Adventure Inn (more information and discount code here).
The SANSA airport is right next to the International Airport (SJO), which is where you arrive on your flight into the country. If you are going immediately from SJO to catch your SANSA flight, once you exit the airport, walk to the left. You’ll need to move through a lot of people asking you if you want a taxi. Just politely say “no” and keep walking around them and to the left. Once you are out the front of the airport (can easily see the upper and lower floors of the airport), continue around to the left on the main road. From there it’s a short 50-metre walk to a gate (again on the left) that has a SANSA sign on it. Turn in here and walk through what looks like a car park to a small building at the back of the carpark. This is the SANSA flight check-in desk.
If these instructions do not bring you to the right place, or if they are confusing for you, simply ask someone you see walking around – they should have an idea where “SANSA” is.
It also shouldn’t take you longer than 5-minutes to get out of the SJO airport and into the SANSA airport (it’s just next door). If it’s taken more than 5-minutes, stop and ask someone for directions.
Please remember that you need to book your own flights, separately from any retreat or training event.
