You know when your alarm goes off and you just want it to end? There’s an immediate resistance to the idea of getting out of bed and every inclination to turn over and go back to sleep, waiting for the chiming of the second and third alarms that you’ve set because you know you’re going to need them.
Even if you’ve carefully selected what you think is the most peaceful alarm noise possible, it still has this slight element of grating against your soul in between the zen crystal bowl vibrations.
The great thing is, in the jungle it’s a little different – there’s no soul-grating and there’s all of the early-bird joy you can imagine.
The alarms here are all natural. Usually at around 5am or 5:30am you’ll be awoken by the morning calls of the howler monkeys, reasserting their territory with their characteristic bark.
As long as you’re expecting it, it’s not really startling. In fact when you know it’s going to happen it’s actually a really serene and blissful way to wake up.
Somehow the natural noises of the jungle instills this sense of peace, regardless of the fact it’s ridiculously early, and instead of feeling resentful that you missed out on your sleep in, you’ll generally find a sense of ease and contentment wash over you. And plus, it’s a great reminder you’re waking up in the jungle, which is pretty awesome.
It’s by far the best alarm that we’ve ever tested. And you don’t need or even want a snooze button.
The only caveat is, when you return home from the jungle, it’s pretty much guaranteed that you’ll miss your natural alarm clock.
