We were gifted this beautiful poem from Jo Stephens, after her stay here at the centre with us. Jo and Justine came to the centre looking for a place to run their retreat (found here). Jo really touched our hearts when she shared this with us. Without further ado:
There is this special place I know,
Where the squirrel monkeys go.
Surrounded by the jungle edge,
A yoga platform; the visual ledge.
I watch blue morpho disappear,
Hummingbird buzz in my ear.
Macaws fly passed, two by two,
Their love forever remaining true.
The toucan with its bill so bright,
Blaze of yellow to my sight.
A frog that raves in brilliant green,
Rare indeed but often seen.
Amidst magnificent waterfall,
It seeems Navina has it all.
The giant ferns that line the way.
Show the path, the place to play.
And so to the swimming pool,
Encased in forest, clear & cool.
Lets not forget the Kiskadee,
Bandit stripped the yellowbird be.
And so the vibe it sucked me in,
& left the face with constant grin.
For the warmth & love that fills the place,
Nurturing souls of wonder grace.
Only a fool would pass this by,
Miss the wonder of star-filled sky.
Not wake to howler monkey call,
Nor watch the fluttering butterfly jewel.
So come & sit & watch & be,
Let nature heal & let you see.
Drew will guide you, safe & strong,
Return you home where you belong….
All the feels. Thank you for this, Jo.
