We looooove food. And we know that a lot of you do too. So it’s a big thing to us.
For each retreat we carefully craft a menu to suit the needs and dietary restrictions of the group. When you register for a retreat or training at the centre, one of the first emails we send you has a questionnaire that will help us to understand your food needs more.
In addition to taking these things into consideration, our menu is largely vegan, and all of it falls under the umbrella of vegetarian. Eating in this way for a short period of time (such as a retreat) is a great way to support your entire system.
There is a substantial body of evidence to support the notion that a plant-based diet is not only good for the planet, but it’s also good for improving and maintaining your health. When done correctly, it’s also entirely nutritionally adequate – and don’t worry, you will certainly get plenty of protein here – we’ve studied nutrition at University and we’ve got you covered with evidence-based practices. If you’d like to read some great research updates, check this, this and this out.
We aren’t here to say that meat is the enemy. That’s not what this is about. This is about supporting and optimizing your health during your visit here, catering to all food restrictions within the group, and keeping our eyes on the science.
Our menu has a mixture of local Costa Rican cuisine as well as some popular favourites from all over the globe. The plan is to keep your tastebuds partying for the full duration of your stay!
Part of the magic of being on retreat and in community as well, is that we share our meals together over great conversation, with great company. Our dining space brings us all together at a big harvest-style table, in the centre of our property to share time and space with our new-found family.
On top of this, we try to grow as much of our produce as possible – with a substantial variety of fruits and veggies grown right here on site. It doesn’t get much fresher than that!
